Challenging the immune system: undisclosed nickel sensitivity in podiatric surgery

Abstract 

The prevalence of nickel allergy in the general population is taken to be around 8–10% and appears to be more common in women than men. We present a case study of undisclosed nickel allergy to wire fixation of an osteotomy, which resulted in removal following a period five months.
